What we’ll check

Have the notice? Keep it handy.

Backflow protection helps keep water from connected equipment from flowing toward the drinking-water supply. Testing evaluates the assembly that provides that protection. Start with the information you have; the office can talk through the rest with you.

01

Property

The service address, water utility, and the person who can approve the appointment.

02

Notice

The stated due date, account or assembly reference, and any previous test result.

03

Assembly

Where it is, how many there are, and any readable make, model, or serial number.

04

Access

Gates, pets, an indoor location, or an on-site contact we should discuss before the visit.

Helpful before the visit

A clear photo of the assembly label can help if you do not know the model. Share what you can see; there is no need to dismantle anything to make an inquiry.

Sound familiar?

Tell us why you are calling.

A routine testing request and a known equipment problem need different conversations. Let the office know which describes your situation so the scope can be confirmed before an appointment.

01

A utility notice

Have the letter or email nearby. Share the deadline and any assembly identification listed on it.

02

A previous failed test

Keep the report. Ask about the next steps, including any separate repair and retesting arrangements.

03

A leak or damage

Describe what you can see and when it started. Mention the problem when requesting testing so it is part of the discussion.

04

An unfamiliar assembly

For a new property or missing records, tell us what you know. Your water utility can clarify which requirement applies.

Your options

Testing and repair are different steps.

The test

A backflow assembly uses mechanical components to resist reverse flow. Testing checks their operation; normal-looking water alone does not tell you whether those components work.

Any additional work

If a problem is found, discuss it before authorizing repairs. Ask what work is proposed, what it costs, and whether another test will be needed.

The record

Confirm the report arrangements when booking. Keep your result with the notice and other property records so it is available for follow-up.

Not sure what you need?

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll help you get started.

Backflow Testing questions

What is a backflow assembly test?

A test kit is connected to the assembly to check whether its internal components operate properly. This is an equipment test, separate from a drinking-water quality sample or a general plumbing inspection.

When should I arrange a test?

Check the due date on your water utility notice and share it when you contact us. If you do not have the notice, ask your utility to confirm the requirement for your property rather than relying on a deadline for another water system.

Is repair included with testing?

Testing and repair are separate work. If your assembly has already failed a test or is leaking, tell the office and have the report ready. Confirm the scope, price, and any repair or retesting arrangements before booking.

Do I need to be at the property?

Discuss access with the office before the visit. Tell us whether the assembly is indoors, behind a gate, or in an area that requires an escort. Confirm who should be available and whether any water-use arrangements are needed.

Will I receive a test report?

Ask the office how you will receive the result and who is responsible for sending it to your utility. Keep your copy so you have a record if the utility follows up or another notice arrives.

Can you test at my address, and what will it cost?

Our office will confirm testing availability for your address, pricing, and appointment options. Send your property details or call us. Submitting a request does not reserve an appointment until it has been confirmed.
